One spring day with eager anticipation four little hands reached into the bag of seeds, at last the ground was tilled, the furrows were made and now finally the best part of all, to plant the seeds! With supervision and willing little children, the seeds were dropped one by one into the ground, then covered with dirt.
To little young minds the season of planting, growing and harvesting seemed like a long time. However, a couple weeks later we entered the garden again. With excitement one little child exclaimed, “look, the peas are huge!” They were only three inches tall.
In order for seeds to become a plant, the condition of the ground must be warm, then along with rain, sunshine and time, the seeds begin to sprout. The fragile life of the seed pushes its way up through the soil and keeps growing because the condition of the environment is what it needs. Do you see the miracle? Surely by now all of us can say, “the peas are huge!” even though they are only three inches tall!
Late summer four young children fixed their eyes on the ground waiting to begin the harvest of potatoes. Each one wanting to be the first one to find the hidden gems underneath. “Oh look! There they are!” With pure delight they picked each one up. As another fork full of dirt was turned over, happy shouts of “Another one! Look at this one!” were made. As the harvest continued, the joy of finding a five-inch potato was the same as finding those little one-inch potatoes.
Looking at the harvest of the potatoes, God made each one, only some of them had more time to mature than others. Regardless of the size, do you see the miracle? Surely by now all of us can say, “Wow, look at this one!” even though they are only one inch in diameter!
Our spiritual life and the life of seeds has many similarities, for one, both are designed to bear fruit.
How is the condition of your heart? Is someone there to encourage you along the way just as warmth and sunshine is to a seed? Or do you feel alone with no energy left to go on? How is the environment around you? Do you see growth in other people’s lives, do you desire to grow with them? Or does it make you turn away from seeking Him by how they live life? Regardless of how you have answered the questions, Jesus loves you. He is tenderly beckoning you to come to Him.
Ponder the promise of; Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:7. If He cares enough to count every person’s hair, then surely He cares about every detail of your whole life! Do you see the miracle? He loves us! He knows us! He cares about us!
As we have discovered in life, our journey, and our calling varies from one person to the next. Sometimes the journey is painful and sad caused by various reasons. Sometimes it is filled with joy and peace. For some death and grief grip our heart.
My heart goes out to those who are struggling, and victory seems so far away. Do not despair, keep on keeping on! For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Do you see the miracle? He loves us! He knows us! He cares about us! And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. Galatians 6:9.
Rejoicing in the miracles,
Nelson & Betty
